Required knowledge

  • Basic navigation of a project’s task list or Kanban board.

Tools & resources needed

  • An active project

Tasks land in the same underlying system no matter how they start — but there are more starting points than just “create one manually.” Some are things you do directly, and some happen on your behalf, through an AI review or an automation.

Step-by-Step Guide

Atarim supports multiple ways to create tasks, combining human feedback with AI-powered reviews to ensure clarity, context, and speed.

Method 1: On a Live Page

Leave a comment on any live web page and it becomes a task automatically. When you create a task manually, Atarim automatically captures a screenshot and highlights the exact area you clicked. This removes ambiguity and helps your team understand exactly what needs to be addressed. Learn More About Task Management

Instructions:

  1. Open the project’s live page with the Atarim overlay active.
  2. Enable Comment Mode in the toolbar.
  3. Click anywhere on the page — directly on the element you want to comment on.
  4. Type your comment and submit it.

Tip
The pin lands exactly on the element you clicked, so there’s no need to describe location in the comment itself — write about what’s wrong or needed, not where it is.
Note
Tasks can only be assigned to users who are already members of the specific project where the task exists.
Tip
If you’re not receiving updates, ensure you’re added to the project or task, and your notification settings haven’t been disabled.

Method 2: On a Design or Image Project

The same pin-and-comment mechanic works on uploaded designs and images, not just live web pages.

Instructions:

  1. In the left sidebar, select Projects.
  2. At the top-left of the project grid, select + Add Design.
  3. The Add a Design Project window opens, with two options: Upload Designs and Work Inside Figma.

Option A — Upload your design files

  1. Under Upload Designs, drag your files into the dashed drop area, or click it to browse.
  2. Accepted formats are PDF, JPG, PNG, PSD, AI, and DWG, up to 20 MB and 20 files per project.
  3. Select Create Project to finish. All the files upload into a single multi-page project, and you can add more later.

Option B — Work inside Figma

  1. Under Work Inside Figma, either select Install Figma Plugin to sync designs and comments directly, or
  2. Select a frame in Figma, copy its URL, and paste it into the Drop a Figma URL Here field. Leaving no frame selected imports the full page.
  3. Select Create Project.

Once the project exists — creating a task on the design

  1. Open the Design Project you just created.
  2. Click on the design at the exact spot you want to comment on.
  3. Type your comment and submit it.
  4. A task is created automatically, pinned to that point on the design, with the surrounding area captured.

This creates a task the same way a live-page comment does.

Note
Leaving feedback on a design works the same as on a live page: click the spot you want to comment on, type your note, and a task is created automatically — pinned to that point, with the surrounding area captured.

Option 3: From a Kanban Board Column

Instructions:

  1. Open Boards from the left navigation.
  2. Choose the board you want to work from, such as the Status Board.
  3. Find the column that matches the task’s starting status, such as Open, In Progress, Pending Review, or Complete.
  4. Click Create a Task at the bottom of that column.
  5. In the Create a General Task window, review the prefilled status. It automatically matches the column where you created the task.
  6. Select the task priority, tags, and assignee.
  7. Choose the project and the relevant page.
  8. Enter a clear task title.
  9. Add the task details or instructions in the message field.
  10. Click the send button to create the task.

A task created from a board column automatically uses that column’s status. For example, creating it from In Progress sets the task status to In Progress.

Tip
Use this when you already know a task’s status or priority — starting from the right column saves a step versus setting it manually afterward.

Option 4: From the Inbox

Instructions:

  1. Open Inbox from the left navigation.
  2. Click the + button beside the task list to add a general task.
  3. In the Create a General Task window, select the team members who should have access to the task.
  4. Choose the task status, priority, tags, and assignee.
  5. Select the project where the task should be created.
  6. Choose the relevant page for the task.
  7. Enter a clear task title.
  8. Add the task details or instructions in the message field.
  9. Click the send button to create the task.

You can also select Create a Task at the bottom of any column on a board. A task created this way automatically uses the status or priority of the column you started from. For example, creating a task from the In Progress column sets its status to In Progress.

Option 5: From project front end

On the project’s front end, you can also switch an in-progress review panel to a general task directly: open the task panel’s Review tab, select “Switch to a regular general task,” then enter your comment and submit.

Instructions:

  1. Open the project front end shared by your team.
  2. Open the Atarim panel and click Switch to a regular general task.
  3. Enter a comment describing the task.
  4. Click Submit to create the task.
Tip
Use this for work that isn’t tied to a specific spot on a page or design — a general request, an internal to-do, or anything a pin wouldn’t make sense for.
Warning
Clients can use general tasks for overarching requests or feedback not tied to specific visual elements.

  2. At the top of the task panel, locate the task title field.

Tip
Use clear and descriptive titles, such as “Update homepage hero section” or “Fix mobile menu alignment,” to improve task visibility and communication.

Option 6: Creating Tasks with AI Collaboration

As you leave a comment on a page or design, the AI chat lets you get input from the Inner Circle agents right there — so instead of writing a task alone, you refine it in real time before it becomes actionable work. The task itself is created the same way any comment is; the AI just helps you sharpen it first. How To Get The Most Out Of The Inner Circle

AI Collaboration helps you:

  • Clarify vague feedback
  • Improve copy and messaging
  • Validate design decisions
  • Strengthen task clarity before assignment
With AI Collaboration active, leaving feedback on a section opens a thread where an expert agent (here, Pixel) reviews the element and replies with specific, actionable suggestions.
Tip
You don’t just create a task — you refine it, clarify it, and improve it together before it becomes actionable work.

FAQs

Can I create tasks without attaching them to specific elements on the website?

Yes, Atarim allows you to create general tasks that are not tied to a specific element on the website. Use the “Create Task” option on the Kanban board or General task button on the project frontend.

Can I add files to tasks while creating them?

Yes, you can add files like images or documents to tasks by clicking the attachment icon in the task view or simply drag and drop the file in the comment area.

Can clients create tasks using AI?

No. AI features are available only to internal team members. Clients can create manual and general tasks but won’t see or interact with AI-generated feedback.

Does clicking on a page really create a task on its own?

Yes. In Comment mode, clicking an element places a pin, and when you type a comment and submit it, that comment is saved as a task automatically. It receives a task number and appears in the Feedback panel and in your Inbox/Boards.

Is a screenshot captured automatically?

Yes. When you create a task on a live page or a design, Atarim captures the surrounding area and highlights the exact element you clicked, so the team sees what you’re referring to without extra explanation.

Do I need to describe where the problem is in my comment?

No. The pin lands on the element you clicked, so write about what needs to change, not where it is on the page.

Can I create a task that isn’t tied to a spot on a page?

Yes — use a general task. Create it from a board column, from the Inbox (the + button beside the task list), or from the project front end via Switch to a regular general task. These are best for overarching requests, internal to-dos, or anything a pin wouldn’t make sense for.

Conclusion

However a task starts — a live-page comment, a design annotation, a manual entry, a converted email, an automation, or an AI finding — it lands in the same underlying task system, so assignee, priority, due date, and visibility all work the same way regardless of origin.

Tips & best practices

Set a default assignee so a task created any of these ways never lands with no one responsible for it. If a task isn't showing up where you expect, check whether it's missing an assignee, priority, or due date that the current view is filtering on. Check for an automation before assuming an unexplained task was a mistake — a workflow's Add Task step creates tasks silently by design.
