MainWP is a self-hosted dashboard for managing multiple WordPress sites. Connecting it brings the sites you maintain and the client feedback you collect into one workflow. It is the most involved integration to set up, because it is the only one where credentials travel in both directions.

Credentials go one way, the Atarim Key goes the other.

This connection goes both ways

Unlike every other integration, MainWP needs credentials entered in both directions. You paste MainWP’s keys into Atarim, and you paste Atarim’s key into the MainWP extension. Setting up only one side leaves the connection incomplete, and it will not be obvious which half is missing.

Install the MainWP Atarim Extension

Everything else depends on this. The extension is what receives the Atarim Key and surfaces your tasks inside MainWP.

Download the MainWP Atarim Extension.

Install it on your MainWP dashboard, following MainWP’s own instructions for installing extensions. The Atarim extension appears in your MainWP dashboard, ready to receive the key.

Enable the REST API in MainWP

Before anything else, MainWP’s REST API has to be switched on and a key pair generated. That is what Atarim uses to talk to your dashboard.

Open your MainWP dashboard.

Enable the REST API and generate a key pair. MainWP gives you a consumer key and a consumer secret — the Atarim panel links to MainWP’s own guide if you need the exact steps.

Copy both, along with the URL of your MainWP dashboard.

Copy the consumer secret when it is first shown

Most systems display a secret once and never again — if you lose it, you will be generating a new pair rather than looking it up.

Enter Your MainWP Details in Atarim

In Atarim, go to Settings.

Under Connected Apps, select Integrations.

Find MainWP and switch its toggle on. The configuration fields expand beneath it.

Fill in the three fields, submitting each one to save it.

MainWP is a plan feature

Where your plan does not include native integrations the option is locked and names the minimum plan required, and only the workspace owner can change the subscription. If Integrations is not in your sidebar at all, your role does not have access to it. Learn More About User Roles And Permissions

Enter the Atarim Key in MainWP

This is the half people miss. Atarim generates its own key, shown in the same panel, and it has to go into the Atarim extension inside MainWP.

Find the Atarim Key in the MainWP section of the Integrations panel.

Copy it using the copy control.

Open your MainWP dashboard and go to the Atarim extension.

Paste the key in and save. Both halves of the connection are now in place.

The extension has to be installed first

The Atarim Key goes into the Atarim extension in MainWP, so that extension needs to exist before this step. If you cannot find where to paste the key, install the extension rather than assuming Atarim’s key is wrong.

Do both halves in one sitting

A half-configured connection fails quietly, and coming back to it a week later means working out which side you finished — considerably harder than just completing it now.

Collaborate on a MainWP Website

In your MainWP dashboard, select the collaborate link on the website you want. The website opens in Atarim, ready for tasks, comments and annotations on the live site.

Work as you would on any Atarim project. The number of tasks created appears against that site in your MainWP dashboard.

Note

Annotations and tasks are an overlay for collaboration. They do not alter the actual website content, so there is no risk to the live site in letting a client comment freely.

Once both halves are connected, MainWP pushes health information about your sites into your Atarim dashboard.

Vital	What it shows
Updates	How many plugin, theme and WordPress updates are pending.
Status	Whether the site is currently online or offline.
Security	How many security issues the site currently has.

Each connected website in Atarim also carries a control that opens that site directly in your MainWP dashboard.

If vitals do not appear, check your permalinks

MainWP’s permalink structure must be set to Post Name for Atarim to pull this data. This is the single most common reason vitals stay blank after an otherwise correct setup — and nothing in either dashboard points at it, so it is worth checking first rather than last.

Refreshing Site Status

In MainWP, go to Sites → Monitoring.

Select all of your websites.

Open Bulk Actions, choose Check now, and select Apply. The status codes update, and the new values appear on the Websites screen in Atarim.

See Atarim Tasks Inside MainWP

Tasks created on your MainWP websites appear in three places in MainWP.

On the MainWP websites screen, scroll right to the Atarim column. Selecting the button there lists every task on that website.

Open a task from that list. A new tab opens on your Atarim inbox with that task displayed, ready to work on.

Or open the Atarim extension for a task list per site, and the Overview screen for every task across your whole network.

Tip

The Atarim task button inside the extension behaves differently from the one on the websites screen — it takes you straight to the collaborative view rather than showing a task list. Useful once you know which site you are working on.

Why does this integration need keys in both directions?

Because both systems need to reach each other. MainWP’s consumer key and secret let Atarim talk to your dashboard; the Atarim Key lets MainWP talk back.

Does this sync tasks to a project tool?

No. This connects your MainWP dashboard. Task syncing is handled by integrations such as Jira, Asana or Trello.

Will tasks created in Atarim show up in MainWP?

Yes. Tasks created on your websites through Atarim appear in the MainWP dashboard, including their current status.

Do Atarim annotations change the live website?

No. Tasks and annotations are a collaboration overlay — they do not alter the site’s actual content.

Can I disable the integration temporarily?

Yes. Switch it off from the Integrations panel in Atarim without deleting your configuration.

Does my MainWP dashboard need to be publicly reachable?

Atarim connects to the dashboard URL you provide, so it needs to be reachable from outside your network.

Common issues

The connection does not work after entering the keys — check the other half. The Atarim Key needs pasting into the Atarim extension in MainWP.
You cannot find where to paste the Atarim Key — the Atarim extension is not installed in MainWP yet. Install it first.
MainWP rejects the credentials — re-copy the consumer key and secret, and check the dashboard URL is the full address of your MainWP install.
You have lost the consumer secret — generate a new key pair in MainWP and enter both values again in Atarim.
The MainWP option is locked — your plan does not include native integrations. The lock names the minimum plan required.
Integrations is not in your settings sidebar — your role does not have access. Ask an Administrator.
Website vitals do not appear in Atarim — set the MainWP permalink structure to Post Name. If that does not fix it, contact support.
Site status looks out of date — in MainWP, go to Sites → Monitoring, select all sites, and run Check now from Bulk Actions.
The connection stopped working — keys may have been regenerated on either side. Re-enter the current values in both places.

Conclusion

MainWP is the most involved integration to set up, because it is the only one where credentials travel in both directions. Enable the REST API, paste the key, secret and dashboard URL into Atarim, then copy the Atarim Key back into the MainWP extension.

Complete both halves in one go. A connection that is half configured fails without telling you which half is missing.
