1. Overview of Roles in Atarim
Team Members
- Administrator
- Administrators have unrestricted access to all features and settings in the Atarim dashboard.
- Permissions: Manage account settings, invite users, create and manage projects, and control global settings.
Tip: Best for Project managers or team leaders overseeing multiple projects or company-wide operations. Administrators have control over both global and project-specific settings.
- Contributor
- Contributors have access only to the projects they are specifically assigned to within the Atarim Dashboard. They can also access areas like the Inbox or Boards to complete their tasks.
- Permissions: Can collaborate within assigned projects, create tasks, and provide feedback.
Tip: Best for Team members involved in day-to-day project tasks without needing access to overall project management. Contributors do not have the ability to access all projects or global settings.
Stakeholders and Clients
- Collaborator
- Collaborators are external users who are invited to participate in specific projects. They do not have access to the full dashboard, but can engage in visual collaboration tasks.
- Permissions: Can view, comment, and provide feedback on the specific project they’re invited to. They cannot access Boards, Inbox, or other internal management tools.
Tip: Best for External clients or partners who need to review designs, add comments, and provide approvals without managing the project. Collaborators are ideal for external feedback without granting access to project management tools.
- Guest
- Guests are users invited to contribute to a project without providing their email address.
- Permissions: Based on project-specific settings, they can create tasks, comment, and review project elements. However, they have no access to the dashboard.
Tip: Best for Temporary collaborators who need limited access to a project or client feedback without formal login requirements.
Note: Guests will not receive email notifications, as they have not provided their email address. They are useful for quick feedback without formal onboarding.
2. Customizing Permissions Globally
Atarim provides flexibility to set permissions globally across all projects. This can be done via the Settings menu, where administrators can configure what tools and options each role has access to throughout the platform. This applies only to the Visual Collaboration interface, not the rest of the dashboard.
Instructions:
- Go to Settings > User Permissions from the dashboard.
- You will find a permissions table to modify.
- Enable or disable permissions for various tools such as changing task statuses, approving pages, uploading files, and more.
- At the bottom of the table, you can Reset to default settings.
Note: Ensure minimal permissions for external collaborators to maintain project security.
3. Customizing Project-Specific Permissions
For more granular control, you can disable global permissions and assign role-specific permissions per project.
Instructions:
- Access the Project Settings from the project’s card on the Projects screen.
- Disable the Global Settings toggle.
- Adjust role-specific permissions for the selected project, including tools available to each user type (Administrator, Contributor, Collaborator, Guest).
Note: Disabling global permissions allows you to create highly tailored access controls for sensitive or unique projects.
FAQs
Yes, user roles can be updated at any time. Simply go to the User Management section of the dashboard and change their assigned role.
By default, Collaborators will not see any tasks marked as “Internal Tasks.” Use project-specific permissions to limit what Collaborators can see and do or grant access to different feedback tools. Learn more about creating Internal task
A Collaborator is a registered user who can participate in visual feedback, while a Guest can contribute to a project without registering, based on specific permissions. Since we do not have their email address, Guests will not be notified about new tasks or comments.
